Fall is, without a doubt, my favorite time of the year. Though the season technically starts in September, the weather here in Texas isn’t usually representative of it until October. We actually just had our first of a few truly chilly days this past week, which inspired this post.
So, in honor of the beautiful fifty degree weather outside, I thought I’d share some of the things that I do and the traditions I have when the fall season comes around.
First and foremost is the candles. Or, really, I should say candle. There is only one specific candle I use throughout the fall season: mulled cider. I love it so much and the nostalgia and fond memories attached to the smell make it my go-to fall necessity.
Second is the decorations. Fall wouldn’t be fall without the myriad of pumpkins and autumn leaves adorning all available surfaces. Below are a few pictures of the decor we have up this year in my home.
The next one is more of an event than a tangible object. When my sister and I worked at Disney, our favorite show was the fall version of Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire that was performed in front of the castle. It has a catchy tune and the autumn themed dresses are gorgeous. The core of the twenty-minute show is (or was… RIP) the same all year round. It’s the last five or so minutes that have the fall additions. Every year, on the first day of fall, my family pulls the video up on youtube and watches it together. I’ve added a version of this video at the bottom of the post.
Well, that’s it for now. I hope you have an incredible fall full of autumn leaves, spice, and everything pumpkin. And if you haven’t found your towel yet, don’t worry. I haven’t either.
